A web based feed reader is like a magazine that you can design yourself. Feed readers let you subscribe to information on your favorite websites - so when the site content is updated - it appears in your news reader. For this to work the site your interested in must contain the RSS symbol , or a Subscribe link.
Most readers allow you to search for content within your favorite sites from the reader itself. Readers keep track of which things you've read, allow you to categorize information and share with friends.
Web postings can be configured to automatically generate RSS files in the XML format. This then can be readily read by the feed readers.
